Arsu’s transformation from scared and anxious to a happy and affectionate dog!

We were told that Arsu is a friendly and happy-go-lucky dog, but what we saw when he was surrendered to us was different. The poor boy was shivering out of fear, had severe anxiety and distrust causing him to snap.

Arsu’s family were forced to surrender him to us since they were moving abroad. They tried hard to get him adopted but no one showed interest, possibly because he is a mixed breed Indian dog. Leaving his family and home behind and entering a strange place set off a series of emotional and behavioural issues, but we were here to help.

For the next two weeks, every day our team spent time outside his kennel praising him with kind words and treats. Then we began leaving the door of his kennel open hoping he would venture out. 2 weeks later, he finally decided to emerge and explore his surroundings. We were present, ready with some treats hoping he would come to us – and much to our joy, he did!

All it took was one sniff and a pat on the head for Arsu to shed his inhibitions. He suddenly let his guard down and showed us his sweet, goofy side! He transformed from a scared, snappy, anxious, distrusting dog into a happy, playful, and affectionate pooch. If we had given up on him, he would never have seen that he can live a beautiful & happy life with us.

For over 10 years, VOSD has studied dogs and formulated stress-free and positive training programs. This has helped us rehabilitate hundreds of canines with behavioural issues who have been admitted to our sanctuary. We wish to remain a safe space for more such dogs over the years, who don’t have a home or hope. Please support the work we do by donating INR 5,000 (~$63) one-time or monthly: https://vosd.in/active-campaigns/monthly-expenses/.
