Preventing suffering is as important as rescue. VOSD conducts and supports spay/neuter (Animal Birth Control) programs in Pune, Kolhapur & Bangalore. We have facilitated the sterilization of thousands of stray dogs, preventing countless unwanted births and reducing the spread of diseases like rabies. Each spay or neuter means fewer puppies born into a life of hardship on the streets, a proactive step that saves future lives and makes communities safer for dogs and people alike.
Hunger is a daily struggle for stray dogs on our streets. VOSD runs feeding programs to ensure homeless dogs don’t go hungry. We empower community feeders and volunteers in cities like Bengaluru and Pune, providing food and resources to feed hundreds of street dogs regularly. A full belly keeps them healthy and tells a lonely stray dog that they are not alone. Through feeding drives and partnerships, we extend our circle of care to as many hungry street dogs as we can reach.

VOSD Sanctuary & Hospital is the home to over 1,800 rescued dogs. They are all survivors of abuse & cruelty, 200+ are blind, 150+ are paralysed, 100+ are parvo & distemper survivors. 100% of which were meant to die without VOSD’s lifelone care. They reside in an ultra-modern 7-acre facility, staffed by over 100 personnel and equipped with a modern hospital.
VOSD accepts over 400 dogs in our permanent care each year across 10 different categories. These include survivors of cruelty, old dogs that can’t survive on the street, special needs dogs (paralysed, blind etc).
